I have created a program to calculte the maximum amount of power able to produced by a particular engine based on the chemical energy present in the fuel. This is an early edition of the program so it may have a few bugs and it will not be all encompassing. It is designed to work for 4-stroke piston type and rotary engines at the moment. The option for 2-strokes will come later. The update history on this page will show all updates made to the program. Three fuel types are supported, octane, hydrogen and diesel (with more to come). Please keep in mind that this will give you the maximum value possible, not the practical value. This is under ideal conditions which assumes complete combustion of all fuel and perfect air-flow dynamics along with 100% volumetric effeciency. A heat efficiency of 10% is also assumed which a common estimate for internal combustion engines. The program is available below. Enjoy!
